-Orthomosaics
-Volume / Stockpile Measurements & Cut and Fill
-Orthomosaics-
The benefits and use cases:
Many of our clients request an aerial photo of large tracts of land. Often times, the tracts of land are 50 acres or more.
Drones are not legally allowed to fly above 400 feet above ground level in most cases, meaning one all-encompassing aerial photograph is not possible.
Our Solution:
We program our drone/UAV to fly at a low altitude in a grid pattern above the land, taking thousands of photos.
When all the photos have been taken, we process the images in our mapping engine to create the one aerial photograph that our client desires. The photo above is an orthomosaic of a mountainous 900-acre plot of land, nearly impossible to photograph from even a plane or helicopter with any detail. With Asheville and its surrounding region having such stark landscapes, drone surveys are extremely useful for exploring and surveying a property.
Pictured Left (zoomed in from the image above): Our Orth mosaics have an extreme amount of detail.
Not only is this useful for zooming in and seeing features of the landscape, but also for when clients want to put an image in a frame or as a mural, the image will retain its quality as opposed to a standard aerial image being pixelated.
Cost effectiveness:
Compared to aerial photographs from a plane or helicopter, our service is thousands of dollars cheaper.
As discussed previously, our images are superior to that taken via an airplane or helicopter, meaning you pay less for better deliverables.
-DSM & DTM’s–
The benefits and use cases:
Developers, Construction Companies, Grading Companies, and Surveyors turn to UAO for our accurate DSM and DTM’s.
Not only are they useful to understand a localized grade, and while useful, these can be used on massive tracts of land to find areas safe to build on, areas with more work to be done, possible high-risk areas, and areas with a potential high environmental impact.
Many of our clients who provide grading services request our drone surveys for this service, along with stockpile and cut and fill measurements.
Cost effectiveness:
Given that these maps are a tool used by different fields, companies and individuals, the value of these maps vary. To the real estate agent in Asheville NC just wanting to know the marketability for a swath of land, the value may be lower than the grading company who absolutely NEEDS this information.
UAO prices its aerial drone mapping services based on acreage, with other factors sometimes coming into play. We assure you that the low price you pay for this deliverable is well worth it, especially when the terrain is as stark as the terrain in and around Asheville NC.
-Contour / Topographic Maps-
The benefits and use cases:
Shown in the summary of this article, this contour map is of a construction site near finalized grade.
Many of our clients utilize our drone survey derived contour maps to compare directly to their blueprints when they feel they are close to grade.
With Asheville and its surrounding region having such stark landscapes, drone surveys are extremely useful for mapping and surveying a property.
Our mapping engine allows us to take the aerial survey and use photogrammetry to produce these contour maps. Since the map is derived from the drone survey, we can recreate the map using different restraints or specifications. For example, if the builder needs contours at a one-foot interval versus the three-foot interview that we provided, we can generate a new map at no cost to the client.
Cost Effectiveness:
For the value that these maps bring to the drafting table, the mapping room, or the AUTOCAD desktop compared to the price you pay for it, it’s an incredible deal.
Having an accurate contour map to compare to the blueprints of a build plan is so vital, and we offer it at an extremely low price. We are so effective at what we do that your map takes less than 24 hours to have it dropped off in your inbox.
We depend on returning clients, so this quick turn over time allows you to increase your efficiency and in turn, give us more work.
-Volume / Stockpile Measurements & Cut and Fill-
The benefits and use cases:
Our drone surveys have many uses, but this deliverable is certainly one of our most utilized.
Volume / stockpile measurements and cut and fill measurements provide information that have saved our clients tens of thousands of dollars.
The uses for construction / grading are clear: measuring stockpiles after some has been used, measuring negative volume of an area to be filled in, measuring additional materials after the grade is complete and more.
Other industries use our aerial surveys and stockpile measurement services, such as mining, quarries, logging companies, and more.
Cost effectiveness:
The amount of money you will save by never over or under ordering again is enormous. In the case where you have more material at the end of the grade, we can tell you exactly how much you have, giving you the correct amount to sell your materials at.
Our drone survey service is priced incredibly low, and with the money you’ll save by having accurate information, you’ll be saving money using UAO.
-Distance, Area, slope measurements and more–
The benefits and use cases:
Our drone mapping service leverages photogrammetry, allowing us here at UAO to calculate distance, area, length, and essentially every measurement you will need
We are proud to provide Asheville NC withy these accurate measurements. Pictures left, is a measurement completed for a client who is installing a parking lot in the blue zone. Our mapping engine tells us exactly the area measurement for this designated zone.
From the drone survey to the engine, to the measurement, we can provide you with the measurements you need to know within several hours of our visit to the site.
Cost effectiveness:
We have seen time and time again the benefits our measurements have on a client’s project. In Ashville NC, not only will you be receiving quality measurements, but you’ll receive the orthomosaic as well.
-3D Modeling–
The benefits and use cases:
UAO provides quality 3D modeling to Ashville NC, using our 48 megapixel camera to create detailed 3D models.
The uses for 3D modeling are endless, from building/infrastructure inspections, to project management.
If a picture is a thousand words, a 3D model is a million.
When it comes to real estate, our modeling can create a base plane for virtual building insertion, which has become popular as of late.
Cost effectiveness:
Having UAO provide you with 3D models is a high value service. The model will save you walking a site, climbing a roof, or ever being there in person at all.
While photos work well for inspections, a 3D model allows for ALL perspectives in one image that you can continuously manipulate. When you inspect using photos, sometime understanding the location of the photo can be difficult. The 3D model provides the solution, giving you the option to zoom in, turn the model and mark the area of interest with ease.
Compared to other forms of inspections, the value that 3D modeling bring is immense.
